Reading for April 3–Edith Wharton’s “Xingu”

The April 3 Group is filled, but if you would like to read what the group is reading, you can find it at gutenberg.org or amazon.

Edith Wharton’s short story, “Xingu,” is a satire about the Enchanted Readers lunch book club who meet to talk about current fiction.  The pretentious women invite a famous author to their meeting, and some of them bring a list of appropriate allusions which they hope will make their comments more impressive.

If you would prefer for me to e-mail a Word file of the story, just let me know.

After the April 3 meeting, you may leave a comment about this story.
